Jim Harris is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and the University of Washington Pacific Coast Banking School graduate school of banking. Jim began his banking career at a large regional bank in the mid 1980’s during a time when the Texas banking industry was in crisis and all but one Texas-based bank failed. This challenging time, however, allowed him to gain valuable experience beyond his years. After his bank was taken over by the FDIC, he decided to seek other opportunities in El Paso, Texas near his home town of Las Cruces, New Mexico. In 1989, Jim joined JP Morgan Chase where he held various lending positions. In 1998, he accepted a position as a Senior Vice President and Business Banking Manager with Wells Fargo Bank. From 2003 to 2005, Jim joined the Business Banking Support Group as the Border/Nevada Region’s Market Development Consultant where he helped lead the effort to transform Wells Fargo Business Banking and its various support groups into “One Business Banking Team.” He returned to the line in 2005 as a Business Banking Manager and now serves as the Regional Business Banking Manager for Southern Colorado (Colorado Springs to Durango). His team of 45 professionals manages more than one billion in loans and deposits. Recently his Colorado Springs team was honored for the second year in a row by the Colorado Springs Business Journal reader’s poll as the “Best Business Bank and SBA Lender”. Jim currently serves on the governing board of directors of the Pikes Peak Regional Development Corporation (Marketing Chair) and is immediate past Chairman of the Peak Vista Breakfast of Champions, Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce (Southern Colorado Innovation Strategy team and Healthcare Council) . Some of his past community leadership involvement includes: Board President of Hospice of El Paso, Governing Board Member Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce, Board Member El Paso Housing and Building Association, El Paso Symphony Board, El Paso Zoological Society Board.
