Chuck Berry Chuck Berry is the President of the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry (CACI), a business advocacy and lobbying organization that serves as the state chamber of commerce. To this position, Berry brings 14 years experience as a Colorado State Representative (1984-1998). For eight of those years (1991-1998), Berry was Speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives, the most powerful position in the Colorado General Assembly. He was first elected in 1984 and represented a district in Colorado Springs and El Paso County. Prior to joining CACI in mid-2000, Berry practiced with the law firm, Holme, Roberts and Owen in both Colorado Springs and Denver. During the 1999 session of the legislature, Berry served as the chair of the legislative committee of the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce. Berry earned a B.A. (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Colorado in 1972 and a J.D. from the CU School of Law in 1975. After being admitted to the practice of law, he was appointed a deputy district attorney for the Fourth Judicial District (El Paso and Teller Counties). In January 1981, Berry was appointed El Paso County Attorney by the Board of County Commissioners, and he served in that position until his election to the General Assembly in 1984. Berry was raised in Colorado Springs, attended local schools and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1968. He is married to Maria Garcia Berry, and has three adult children: Anne, Martha and James.
